A real estate team hires a freelance graphic designer to create a series of new logos for the official launch of their newly branded team. The graphic designer created more than a dozen options to choose from and the marketing manager at the real estate agency decided on one. They then uploaded the logo to their website and used them to promote their listings on social media.
A few weeks later, the broker received a cease and desist order from a law firm representing another company in an unrelated industry. The company claimed the logos used by the real estate team is identical to their own trademarked logos.
